These tags are deactivated or removed at the point of sale. If the tags/labels are not removed antennas at the exit (or restroom) will sound alerting the staff and the shoplifter.

Do the news articles about "smash and grab" heists scare you? They should as it is a significant problem for many retailers. From pawn shops to jewelry stores, firearms dealers to gift shops, most any store with expensive items in a showcase are a target. A Google search of "Smash and Grab" had over six million hits, a plethora of recent news articles from all over the country. One news article that caught my eye was in our hometown of Seattle from Q13 Fox "The last suspect wanted in bold ‘smash and grab’ was rather upsetting. In a few minutes, the criminals got away with over $250,000 worth of Rolexes. Rather amusing part is while searching his home in Mountlake Terrace, police say they also found a to-do list.
